Operations Manager – Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada
 

Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada is a series of tournaments played across Canada each summer, where tomorrow’s stars begin the path to the PGA TOUR. The leading five money winners at the end of each season earn status on the Web.com Tour for the following season. Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada’s mission is to deliver a PGA TOUR experience for our members, fans, volunteers and our partners in order to develop the future stars of professional and enrich the communities we visit.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist Sr. Manager of Operations with q-school operational items; coordinating volunteers, set-up of q-school infrastructure, player relations, etc.
  • Drive truck and Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada trailer from event to event across the country.
  • Ensure trucks are safetied and equipped for season of driving across Canada.
  • Pre-season; Order and distribute player credentials and money clips for members.  Code new members in PGA TOUR Global Address book in AS400 program.
  • Manage and oversee the set-up/tear-down of Tournament Infrastructure with tournament volunteers.
  • Supervise a team of volunteers and assist with the roping and staking of the golf course.
  • Maintain Tournament Infrastructure in good and clean condition.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all infrastructure items on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure that all signage is displayed to the proper standards of excellence, ensuring the look and feel of a PGA TOUR event.
  • Work with the operations, scoring and caddie committees to ensure that those areas are prepared for tournament week.
  • Ensure that all on-site scoreboards are properly stocked, and manage the on-site leaderboard scoring during competition days.  Order name bars for leaderboards, standards, caddie bibs on weekly basis.
  • Set-up scoring central area and assist with walking scoring training and troubleshooting throughout the tournament.
  • Coordinate driving distance volunteers on tournament days.
  • Update general statistics information weekly.
  • Assist with player relations and facilitation of special events.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • College or University graduate with a degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Golf Management, Business Administration or another relevant field of study.
  • Have an intimate understanding of the rules and etiquette of Golf.
  • Be legally able to work and travel within Canada.
  • Have a valid driver’s license. Restricted A license required (will train and provide).
  • Able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. 

 

Work Period:  Approximately 22 weeks (Mid-April 2019 – Late September 2019) with some flexibility.
