Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic PR programs to achieve significant increases in brand awareness
- Identify key media outlets and influencers
- Develop compelling story angles to help promote all aspects of Pac-12 Networks
- Cultivate relationships with key business journalists from local, national and trade outlets
- Pitch stories to both national and local media. Achieve highest visibility for in print, broadcast, TV, and online media outlets
- Develop and execute on air talent schedules to promote Pac-12 Networks brand and programming schedule
- Write clear and compelling pitch letters, press releases and by-lined articles
- Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities and proactively manage editorial calendars
- Manage Pac-12 Networks award submission process
- Analyze and measure results of PR programs
- Manage budgets and campaign ROI
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Communications
Requirements
- 5-8 years of relevant experience in public relations and communications and BS/BA degree
- Strong network of 828 and B2C, national business, and trade media contacts
- Established relationships with general business, consumer and entertainment trade press/analyst/blogger communities
- Proven successes in both traditional and interactive PR channels
- Acute sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy
- A strong-sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute programs
- Knowledge of international publications and opportunities is a plus
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with basic computer and PR applications including Cision, CatchPole, Google Docs and News Alerts, MS Office Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Additional technology prowess (WordPress, videoblogging)
- Avid consumer of news, sports, entertainment and pop culture
- Strong personal interest in collegiate sports
- Strong national sports press contacts
- Some travel may be required
Preferred
- Experience in media industry
- Knowledge of digital media industry including online, mobile, tablets and other emerging technologies
